TITLE:Physics of Plasma Supported Combustion.

Please join us for another exciting DPI Seminar on Friday, June 20th at 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the DPI conference room.

Our presenter will be again:

Dr. Andrey Starikovskiy, Research Professor, Associate Director of the Drexel Plasma Institute,
Director of the Experimental Plasma Laboratory

TITLE: Physics of Plasma Supported Combustion.

Abstract:

The idea to use nonequilibrium low temperature plasma for either
ignition or combustion stabilization seems to be rather promising.
Indeed, a possibility to guide such a parameter as mean electron
energy, provides a researcher with an opportunity to change energy
branching in plasma from mainly heating and excitation of
low-energetic vibrational degrees to excitation of high-energetic
electronic states and ionization. The role of different species in
plasma assisted ignition and combustion for cases of nonequilibrium
plasma is widely discussed. Different mechanisms are proposed and
investigated, such as ion chemistry and chemistry of excited species.
These mechanisms may provide additional opportunities to initiate a
chain mechanism of combustion in comparison with just a dissociation
by an electron impact.

Hope you are able to attend
